Meet Aastha Singh, originally hailing from the quiet town of Kushahan Kanaura in Uttar Pradesh, and now living in the bustling city of Panchkula. Her father, Brijesh Singh, is a quality head in a pharma company based in Haryana, while her mother, Shalini Singh, gracefully shoulders the role of a homemaker.

Educational Odyssey

Aastha's educational journey was a blend of various cities – Bhopal and Panchkula. She took her college studies to the next level at one of the best institutes in Delhi, the esteemed Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, graduating with honors in Economics. Additionally, she began her civil services preparation simultaneously. Following her B.A. in 2023, she cracked the Haryana PCS exam with 31st rank in her first attempt.

Aastha's Path to IAS

Aastha's meteoric rise to IAS is nothing short of extraordinary. Driven by sheer determination and self-study, she nailed the UPSC in her very first attempt. She's currently honing her skills as an Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer (AETO) under the Haryana Government. Aspiring to make a difference, she's keen on addressing issues like gender equality, and leaving a positive impact on society.

How did Aastha Approach UPSC?

In an exclusive chat, Aastha shared her preparation secret. She opted out of foundation courses, confident that she could cover the vast syllabus more swiftly than conventional courses would permit. "I had faith that given I could identify valuable sources, I could finish the syllabus sooner than a fully-fledged course would grant," she explained.

Girl Power in UPSC

UPSC 2024 outcomes proved that ladies continue to rule the game. The top two ranks went to females, and there were more girls among the toppers list. Aastha Singh is one of the five locals from the tricity, four women, who made it to the top 300 ranks this year.
