Young People-Focused Policing Initiative Unveiled in Recklinghausen/Bottrop District - "AddressBAR" Approach Adopted

News Article: Police Dialogue Series Launches in Recklinghausen, Germany

A new dialogue series aimed at enlightening young people about digital crime, everyday dangers, and promoting media competence is set to kick off next week in Recklinghausen, Germany. The series, titled "AnsprechBAR - the police gives out information," is being launched by the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen specifically for students.

The series, which aims to reach young people where they are, will feature real conversations without lectures, focusing on an exchange at eye level. The police encourages young people to take the series seriously, be involved, have a say, and help shape things.

The events will take place in various cities, with the kick-off event scheduled for next Thursday, 18th September, at the Paul-Spiegel-Berufskolleg in Dorsten. Young people can discuss topics such as online dangers, knife violence, radicalization, or civil courage with police officers from different departments.

The police will use an Airstream trailer as an eye-catcher and interactive formats to create a pleasant atmosphere. The events will also be held in a modern, interactive format to engage young people in conversation.

In addition to the face-to-face events, updates will be available on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The events can also be followed on the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen's news platform. Media representatives are welcome to the events, but prior registration with the police press office is required.

The Police President, Friederike Zurhausen, emphasizes that the topics must be exciting, relevant, and emotionally engaging for young people. The series aims to prevent violence and radicalization, promote media competence and critical thinking, and build trust between the police and young people.

The police from Recklinghausen will visit the Berufskolleg in Bottrop on September 23 and the Erich-Fried-Hauptschule and Erich-Kästner-Realschule in Gladbeck on September 24 as part of the "AnsprechBAR" dialogue series. The exact start date in Dorsten is not yet confirmed, but it will follow the initial city visits.

The AnsprechBAR event series will visit schools in the Recklinghausen district and the city of Bottrop until early October. After the kick-off, the police will bring the dialogue series to every other city in the area of responsibility, with each city having one initial date.

For more information about the schedule and press inquiries, please contact Annette Achenbach at the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen Press Office ([email protected]). Young people are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to engage in open and honest discussions with the police and learn more about the issues that affect them.
